Ella accepts instructions in all Chambers’ areas of expertise. She has a broad personal injury practice with experience in road traffic accident (including fraud and credit hire), employers’ and occupiers’ liability, Highways Act and cross border claims. She regularly advises local authorities, police forces, tour operators and NHS Trusts and has a particular interest in cases raising
She has a growing medical negligence practice and has advised in cases involving injuries at birth, the application of Montgomery to cosmetic procedures and the defence of illegality. Ella is regularly instructed to settle pleadings in cases raising issues of failure to diagnose, poor surgical technique, failure to obtain informed consent and allegations under the Human Rights Act.
Ella has a special interest in, and experience of, civil actions against the police including claims for false imprisonment and malicious prosecution. She has also advised in relation to police misconduct proceedings.
Ella has experience of claims arising out of Japanese Knotweed infestations including claims in nuisance, misrepresentation and professional negligence.
Ella is always keen to ensure cost savings for clients, and has extensive expertise in relation to QOCS, fixed recoverable costs, and cases involving fundamental dishonesty.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Ella worked for the Free Representation Unit representing clients in the Employment Tribunal as well as in CICA and Social Security appeals. She appeared in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and successfully represented the claimant in a four day pregnancy discrimination claim. She continues to act in claims brought under the Equality Act 2010.
