Laura acts for claimants and defendants and specialises in clinical negligence, personal injury, police, professional negligence and other insurance related claims (including property damage).

Clinical negligence: Laura acts for claimants and defendants (NHSLA and MDU primarily) in cases of all values and levels of complexity. She has particular experience in birth and cancer related claims, but acts in all areas and has successful trial experience. Laura has expertise in coronial law and represents both families and medical professionals at inquests.
Personal injury: Laura has a particular expertise in complex duty of care cases, including claims involving education, social services, physical and sexual abuse and civil cases involving allegations of fraud. She receives regular instructions in catastrophic injury cases (brain and spinal), both on her own and led and has appeared as junior counsel in a number of brain injury cases that have proceeded to trial.
Police: Laura acts for police forces across all areas of civil work, including malfeasance, employers and public liability matters. She has been instructed as junior counsel in cases involving grave injury during restraint and following arrest (including catastrophic brain injury). She also has experience of inquests involving sensitive issues and difficult questions of disclosure.
Professional negligence and insurance: Laura acts in solicitors’ negligence claims across the range of practice areas. She has experience of lenders’ claims (including fraud), mismanagement of property issues and under settlement of personal injury claims (including bulk industrial disease claims). Laura also acts for insurers in property damage claims.
Laura was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 2015, sitting for approximately three weeks a year. She is also Assistant Coroner for East London, an occasional judicial role that complements Laura's practice as an advocate experienced in inquests covering the range of complexities, including deaths in custody, clinical negligence and jury inquests. Laura is a member of the Bar Standards Board approved panel of prosecutors. Laura is regularly instructed in the High Court, has appeared in the Court of Appeal and as junior counsel in the House of Lords. She is experienced in arbitration, jury, tribunal, inquest and appellate advocacy.
Laura was appointed one of four judicial assistants to the Law Lords in 2003-2004 primarily working with Lord Steyn and prior to pupillage, interned in Miami representing defendants facing the death penalty.
Laura is a graduate of Oxford University and was awarded scholarships by Gray's Inn as a student.
