Nicola practises across all of Chambers’ core areas of work, with a particular specialism in professional liability, property/property damage and public authority liability.
Nicola is instructed both as sole and junior counsel in a wide range of professional liability matters, particularly in claims involving construction professionals, solicitors and accountants and those that are linked to property damage. She appears in arbitrations, adjudications and trials at High Court and County Court level and has advocacy and witness-handling experience well above her level of call.
Nicola acts for individuals, public authorities and professional indemnity insurers in property damage claims brought in contract, nuisance, negligence, and pursuant to statute. Nicola’s property damage practice is often closely connected to and is complemented by her work in professional negligence claims involving construction professionals.
Public Authority Liability
Nicola specialises in tortious claims against public authorities and police forces. She is experienced in representing the police in claims for unlawful arrest, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution and is developing a significant practice in coronial law (including in inquests that are Article 2 compliant, and those with a jury). She frequently defends public authorities in claims involving personal injury and those brought under the Equality Act.
Nicola is Secretary of the London Common Law and Commercial Bar Association.
