The claimant sought damages of approximately £2.9m against five defendants in the High Court. He had initially brought the claim against a magistrates' court which had issued a warrant in relation to him under the Mental Health Act 1983. The claimant was taken from his home, detained and treated under the Act. The claimant also sued the social services department of the local authority and its liaison team, who obtained the warrant, the NHS trust hospital where he was treated and the Metropolitan Police, which had facilitated taking him from his home to the hospital. The claim was struck out in its entirety and a general civil restrain order was made.
